'Tis the Season for Giving

As 2018 is wrapping up, we have been taking a look back at what an incredible year it has been. We’ve worked with wonderful clients and partners alike, and are already eager to see what 2019 has in store for us.

While we are enthusiastic about the coming year, we can’t look back on this past year without recognizing the devastating impact of California's wildfires. These wildfires have had a heartbreaking effect on the state, and the entire nation is behind them. At SocialCode, we aim to empower our communities and while we know that we cannot repair all of the damage that has been done, we feel that it is our responsibility to help as much as we can.

California Wildfires

The Camp, Woolsey and Hill fires combined have destroyed over 254,816 acres and 15,476 structures, including homes, schools and businesses. At the time of publishing, the Woolsey and Camp fires have been 100% contained, but there is still more work to be done to ensure the Hill fire will be completely put out as well. Firefighters are working non-stop across the state to contain the flames and prevent the fires from spreading to further areas, yet families have been left without homes to go back to.

That’s why our team has decided to make a donation to the California Community Foundation’s Wildfire Relief Fund, supporting relief and rebuild efforts across the state.

Wildfire Relief Fund

The Wildfire Relief Fund supports both intermediate and long-term relief and recovery efforts for those affected by the wildfires, and they have raised $5 million since 2003. Donations to the Wildfire Relief Fund support those who have been displaced, lost housing, belongings and/or employment, and suffered physical or mental health problems. They have helped to rebuild homes, provided basic needs, and given California wildfire victims information on how to prepare for future disaster.

The Season to Give

This organization aligns with our values, and are grateful that we have the ability to support their efforts as best as we can. If you feel inclined to help as well, please consider donating to their cause, or one of the many others providing much-needed support to our neighbors in CA. For more information, visit the California Community Foundation’s website, or call them at 213-413-4130.

We wish everyone a wonderful holiday season!
